Coincidence...?

Do you like watching characters you're deeply invested in eat shit while their next wave of Funko Pops - I mean younger and cooler replacements - I mean successors - swivel their heads disapprovingly?

No?

Then you're not missing much.

Also I don't really see this getting taken down, fanart that at the very least doesn't follow the desired image of the rights holders is already extremely prevalent here, and this in particular comes a lot closer than most to genuine parody or satire.

Thetageist responds:

Yeah, I started this project when I cared more about what Disney had recently been doing, and then finished it because it was a cool robot. I wonder what a robot representation of their current practices with continuing franchises would look like?

Ah, ya never know with big companies. Sometimes they call "copyright infringement" just to silence people.

7-Eleven? These palettes are starting to get out of hand!

Very interesting choice of subject matter though. Most people just draw their/popular characters with whatever arbitrary palette they're given, so having a piece designed specifically around the given palette is quite refreshing.

Thetageist responds:

If it helps any, the palette challenge was created because the poster was bored.

To be honest, I didn’t even think of drawing a character with the palette. I’d say it was intentional, but I think it was mainly because no one else in the thread did either. The first reply was a Christmas tree - another one chosen because of the specific palette!

No jawline will ever be perfect enough to overshadow the fact he eats, poops, and procreates through the same hole.

Pheep responds:

Lmao, He is truly the perfect pooper. 😌

And hey big thanks for the shout-out. I really appreciate it!! 😭

It really does take a few separate viewings to appreciate all the details here, which is especially impressive considering how clean and clear the overall piece is.

What do you render these in, anyway? I can't imagine someone keeping track of every single tiny pixel color shift across an entire animation like this, and managing to get every moving element synced up in a perfect loop, without at least SOME kind of automation.

aleha84 responds:

Ofcourse it is automated. I made my own software to create scenes like this.

"Oh laud he comin'!"

Very good, though the eyes could definitely use some highlights in them. They're a bit, uh... hollow, as-is.

Okay, first of all, let me get this out of the way: as much as I've enjoyed my time on NG so far, a lot of the foundational works aren't exactly... "my type of 2000's edge," so to speak. No disrespect to all the work that went into them, I'm just saying this as a disclaimer, that if I get anything obvious wrong, I'm not all that familiar with "the lore."

Okay with that out of the way, distinctive design. I can tell you want to keep it fairly naturalistic and not go overboard on details, so what I'd recommend working on most is actually stance and composure. Assuming the main sketch is a fairly standard rest position, there's nothing all that threatening going on from the shoulders down. Having such a bulbous head would probably give the penilian a bit of a... droopy posture... so maybe it could have a bit more of a zombie-like silhouette. Hunched over while standing or walking, arms hanging in exhaustion, when running it moves fast but kind of flops arou-

Speaking of the taxonomical elephant in the room, if you're going to have a creature called a "Hyper-Evolved Penilian," it'd make sense for a few of the features - like the back of the head, and the fingers - to be slightly mushroom-shaped. That's all I'll say on that matter, do with it as you please.

Thetageist responds:

Thank you! I’ll consider those ideas.

It’d actually be very clever to suggest having some parts look even more like a d-

I have no idea how you aren't getting frontpaged, you're not just good but your style absolutely jumps off the page.

Dabbler in many things, particularly decent at art and gamedev. I like drawing anthros in slightly less usual styles (either "2000's game mascot" or something a bit more speculative.)
